Both the European lobster and American lobster are crustaceans that people living in coastal regions love to eat, but left to their devices, the lobsters can survive many decades and grow to ridiculous sizes — particularly the American lobster, which is the largest arthropod species on Earth.
The world’s largest recorded lobster was a 44-pounder (20-kg) caught off Nova Scotia in 1977, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Man Catches Giant Lobster, Claims It’s 100 Years Old: “My Great-Grandfather Very Likely Caught It”

Maine Lobsterman Catches 100-Year-Old Lobster
Maine lobsterman Tyler Rice, who, according to his YouTube page, is a “6th generation lobster fisherman,” shares some of his outdoor adventures on YouTube and social media.
He’s got numerous videos of some of his catches, including the terrifying-looking wolffish, a slippery eel, and a rare blue lobster.
But it’s one of his recent videos that should be a head-turner: Rice pulled in one of his traps a massive beast of a lobster.

In a TikTok video that has amassed over 2 million views, Rice said it’s probably the biggest lobster he’s ever caught.
He noted that the lobster is about 20 pounds and likely over 100 years old, suggesting it is possibly 130 to 140 years old.
Don’t feel like doing the math? Let’s just say that that’s before World War I.
